With a distinguished 20-year sales and account management career spanning from insurance to mental health services, Mr. Giannini is the vice president of enterprise sales at Vita Health. In his role, he leverages his extensive network, including former colleagues and industry referrals, to enhance the company’s goal of delivering life-changing mental health care to individuals in need. He is dedicated to understanding each payor’s behavioral health strategy and filling gaps in care for niche groups who face challenges in accessing services. His efforts emphasize the importance of providing individuals with the ability to receive suicide prevention services from home.
Before joining Vita Health, Mr. Giannini was the vice president of payor and strategic accounts at Talkspace, which focuses on helping individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, and other behavioral health conditions, as well as psychiatric medication management. During his time there, he played a pivotal role in expanding the company’s payor line of business, especially when demand for virtual behavioral health services surged during the COVID-19 pandemic. His leadership helped Talkspace grow from covering a few payors to encompassing all national behavioral health care organizations and employee assistance programs, ultimately reaching 130 million covered lives.
Mr. Giannini’s experience at Talkspace was transformative for him, igniting a passion for supporting members during global crises. His work also resulted in increased workplace productivity and improved mental health services.
Prior to his tenure at Talkspace, Mr. Giannini served 12 years as a senior strategic account manager at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, from 2007 to 2019. His time at the company was particularly impactful, thanks to his mentors, colleagues, and clients, who enhanced his professional journey with valuable advice and encouragement. He began his career at Harrah’s Entertainment, where he was enrolled in their college recruitment program, holding several varying positions while completing his MBA.
Mr. Giannini’s sales and health insurance success stems from his academic endeavors and dedication to his work. He earned a Masters of Business Administration from Purdue University Northwest in 2006 after completing a bachelor’s degree in finance at the Andre B. Lacy School of Business at Butler University in 2004. Though he did not anticipate a career pivot after leaving Blue Cross and Blue Shield, he saw the increasing need for behavioral health services and the importance of prioritizing physical and mental well-being. He takes great pride in working on the behavioral health side of the insurance industry and is passionate about supporting members in their times of greatest need.
Outside of his career, Mr. Giannini enjoys traveling, exercising at the gym, hosting dinner parties, and spending quality time with family and friends. In the coming years, he envisions continuing his work in the virtual health sector, promoting the benefits of receiving treatment from home while contributing to the ongoing transformation of health services.
